Students who reside in the Burrendah Primary School local catchment area are eligible to attend Willetton Senior High School (SHS). Students living outside of the boundaries can apply, however, due to the current, high student numbers at Willetton SHS, there is no guarantee places will be available.
Students in Year 6 who are eligible to enrol at Willetton SHS receive an enrolment package from the high school early in Term 2.
This year, to support the Year 6 students as they transition to high school, two x 1-hour presentations by WSHS students will take place at WSHS, in Term 3 and Term 4. These presentations will be made available to all year 6 students to attend, regardless of which high school, they will be attending the following year. The main goal is to support children to develop their knowledge and understanding to begin their transition from primary to high school the following year. In addition, in Term 4, all Year 6 students who are enrolled at WSHS the following year, have the opportunity to attend the high school for a full day of orientation. Students enrolling at an alternative high school attend orientation according to the day of their high school’s orientation program.
Willetton SHS offers a number of specialist and extension programs, covering a variety of learning areas.
Additional information on these programs is available on their website:http://www.willettonshs.wa.edu.au/
Sharing a campus ensures that Burrendah students have opportunities to work collaboratively with the staff and students of Willetton SHS:
- As part of work experience requirements for a variety of courses, Willetton SHS Year 11 and 12 students support classroom learning at Burrendah Primary School. High school students accumulate industry work experience hours in fields such as Community Service, Certificate 3 & 4 Education Assistants, Business Studies, and Heath & Nursing courses.
- Selected Burrendah Primary School students, attend Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS) lessons at WSHS.
